What is Memory?
Memory is our brain's ability to encode, store, retain, and retrieve information. In other words, memory means using our past experiences to determine our current behaviour. It is the capability to recall past experiences, previously learned facts, skills, habits, and impressions. Memory allows us to learn, adapt, and build relationships. Memory is divided into two types, i.e. short-term memory or working memory and long-term memory.
Diagnosing Memory Difficulties
Memory problems in children are usually first noticed by the parents and/or teachers, while adults often notice their memory issues themselves. At Neural Space, our proprietary BrainRx Cognitive Skills TestTM facilitates a professional cognitive skills evaluation. Our highly time- and cost-effective, and the most comprehensive test available in India; BrainRx Cognitive Skills TestTM measures all cognitive skills including attention, memory, visual and auditory processing, processing speed, and logic and reasoning.
The weakest cognitive sub-skills in people with memory issues include poor short-term, long-term, and/or working memory; however, other areas may suffer as well.
